why this retreat

Our aim is to create a space for you to connect with yourself, the people around you and with nature. We want you to “come back home” to yourselves and to leave feeling utterly rejuvenated, relaxed and with a wealth of knowledge under your belt. We will be linking our practices and days into the Elements of Earth, Fire, Air and Water.

We’ve got some very special things up our sleeves that we can’t wait to share with you. A space to grow, share and connect. Delicious plant-based food. Healing time away from your cell-phones and responsibilities. Time to journal, question, reflect and learn. And more other exciting surprises!

This retreat was inspired not only by our love for the practice of yoga, but our desire to give you the time we so often crave to break away from everyday life and re-connect. With yourself, with others, with nature

 

city escape yoga retreat

Sarah and Sammy are very excited to be collaborating on a joint retreat in the beautiful Sussex. Join them for a very special retreat that is sure to uplift and inspire you. Welcome to “CITY ESCAPE”, the retreat that will remove you from the hustle and bustle of the busy city, and connect you back to a place of stillness and clarity. 

We will be removing ourselves from the hustle of our daily lives, retreating to the British Countryside, The Gayles, just one and a half hours from London, it is an idealistic environment with a relaxed ambience encouraging a safe, open, relaxed and intimate atmosphere to promotes learning and self-discovery.

our home

We will be removing ourselves from the hustle of our daily lives, retreating to the British Countryside, The Gayles, just one and a half hours from London.

It’s the most gorgeous retreat home, with a relaxed environment, home-grown plant-based food and surrounded by the stunning Sussex countryside and national parks.  

There’s an outdoor pool, a hammock to relax on, gorgeous views of horses in the neighbouring fields, a spacious yoga studio and cozy bedrooms overlooking the countryside.

We are so lucky to have organic, locally sourced and delicious food right on our doorstep at Gayles. Each meal is prepared with love and thought and using the highest quality ingredients from their organic gardens.

We believe that food should not only be healing but should nourish the soul, so all of the food is either vegetarian or vegan.

If you have any specific dietary requirements then not to worry we can cater for those. 

There will be fresh fruit provided throughout the retreat.

Samuel Nwokeka 

sarah fretwell

Samuel came to yoga after a skiing accident forced him to call time on his footballing days. The new-found time he used to dedicate himself to the yoga practice, but he soon learnt there was much more to yoga than the endorphin pump you get from the physical asana. The clarity and calmness it brought to his mind provided invaluable.

Samuel’s teaching style is fun and upbeat, focusing on linking breath with movement. He likes to challenge his students and to offer them ways to take their practice further. His energetic teaching style ensures everyone will take something away from each one of his classes – whether you are completely new to yoga or have been practising for as long as you can remember.

Sarah first tried yoga on Yogaglo and quickly became hooked, practising everyday while she was studying in France. She soon found herself enrolling on the appleyoga teacher training course in 2013 and has been teaching in London ever since.

Yoga has changed Sarah’s life in so many positive ways, helping her to grow stronger mentally and physically while bringing about a stronger connection with herself. 


Sarah’s teaching style is fun, creative and always inclusive – yoga is for everybody.  Sarah believes that yoga should be above all, playful. So while alignment plays an important role in her teaching, she keeps her classes fluid and fun. She’ll help you reach your highest potential by breaking down the poses or offering you ways to take your practice deeper.

Luckily Gayles is very easy to access whether by train (from London) or Car. Please check here for best travel options for you.
